Sheffield Website

Upgrading the website to match new employment needs.

Every website is designed to fit the owners’ and visitors’ needs, and when the needs change, so does the website. The client wishes to redesign the website to fit the visitors' needs better, and I was tasked with redesigning the pages.

Problem

The website is not attracting employment seekers.

Previously, the company did not have any issues with reaching out to people who are looking for jobs in the industry. However, this had become difficult recently, so it decided that it is time to implement some changes, and the website is one of them.

Goal

Redesign the website to be more accommodating and straightforward to attract job seekers in the industry. The client wants a modern design that follows their current brand colours, and the About Page will follow the same.

The Planning

Knowing clearly what the client wanted for their web pages, I went and did my research on potential webpage designs for the project. After some discussions with my colleagues, we felt that having the jobs listed directly on the homepage would be the best way to present the choices to job seekers, as they would be able to access the listings quickly.

We also thought of how we could make the page interesting or less “flat”, and then the idea of animating the icons of the 3 different industries popped up in one of our talks, which was what we have decided to do in the end.

Ideation

The designed icons.

Highlighting the client’s international presence was also a point shared strongly amongst us, so further adjustments were made to the design.

Final Mock-Up

The webpage starts with a company video and a statement, immediately creating an impression. Following that, it would be the company’s aspirations and introductions, explaining its history and goals.

Then there are the job listings. The job listings show the job title, description, key details and indicating icons, informing the job seeker what they are being offered.

Followed by the moving icons of the 3 sectors, animated by the coders. This helped to bring in an interesting edge, breaking the atomity slightly.

Lastly, theres the office locations the company has around the world and the acheivements it completed.

The Homepage

I used a similar format for the About Page, keeping a clean outlook while still filled with information. The job listing sare also included in this page to encourage more more job seekers to apply for jobs.

About Page

This project is one of the projects that I first did as a UI Designer, and it was a project that made me reflect on how a website should look. I see this as a learning experience, learning and understanding the hierarchy of every component and what could have been done to improve it. Overall, it was a fulfilling project.
